What is an Israel B/1 work visa for a foreign expert?
A B/1 visa is a temporary residence and work permit. For foreign expert employment, the Israeli employer generally obtains an employment permit first, followed by the employee's work visa and entry stages.
Can I work in Israel on a visitor visa?
No. Work in Israel requires an employment permit and the appropriate B/1 residence and work visa. Entry as a visitor does not replace this process.
Who starts the application?
For most expert pathways, the employer or inviting entity in Israel begins the employment permit process. After Population and Immigration Authority approval, the expert completes the visa stage under the Israeli mission's instructions.
Is there a fast route for a short expert assignment?
An expedited procedure exists for defined short-term assignments when the criteria are met. Eligibility depends on factors including nationality, expertise, assignment and duration.
Which documents do the employer and expert need?
The exact list depends on the pathway. It commonly includes company and role documents from the employer and identity, experience and education records from the expert. Public documents may require authentication and translation. We prepare a separate, case-specific checklist for each side.
How long does the process take?
There is no single timeline and approval dates should not be promised. The pathway, document quality, authority workload and any request for additional material affect processing time.
